Radiopharmaceutical Production
Target Loading System
A touch-screen programmable liquid-metal target loading system was developed for cyclotron-produced radiopharmaceutical production. The system accommodates multiple targets and multiple sources. A spreadsheet file is used to control the process steps and timing. High-pressure, radiation-hardened sensors, valving, and controls were selected for use in the components located within the cyclotron vault where high neutron and gamma-ray fluxes are present. Multiple systems were manufactured for use in several facilities across the USA.
General Purpose Radiosynthesis Module and Hot Cell
A Radiopharmaceutical system was designed for the production of a wide variety of F-18 labeled PET imaging compounds. The system is capable of performing one- or two-pot synthesis techniques and the front panel flow paths are fully reconfigurable. The software allows user programming through either a touch-screen learning mode or via a spreadsheet file. The system produces full batch production records for quality control purposes. A custom mini-hot cell was also designed to provide plug-and-play operation for the customer.
Reciprocating Evaporator
A novel miniature heated rotary evaporator was designed based on reciprocal action, allowing the use of simple tubing and eliminating the typical rotating glass joints. Various standard size threaded reaction vessels can be used with the unit. Either heated air or an IR source can be used as the heat source. The evaporator is controlled via USB and a simple serial command set.
F-18 Fluorobromomethane and Fluoromethylation Modules
These systems were designed for automated synthesis of F-18 imaging agents and precursors. Several prototypes and customer beta units have been produced for clinical use.
